Abstract
H2 was implanted at 30 keV and two dose rates in LPE-grown magnetic garnet film (Y3 Fe5 O12 ) as a possible means of inducing a photomagnetic (photo-induced magnetic annealing) effect. Measurements were made using FMR, immersing YIG samples in liquid nitrogen. As-grown samples exhibited almost no photomagnetic effect. The resonant magnetic field and photomagnetic effect were measured while successively etching the sample; results similar to those for bubble garnet films were obtained. Data suggested a large number of effective photomagnetic centers located deeper than the maximum strain distribution.
