Abstract :
Large amounts of Bi were substituted into magnetic garnet films (Eu3Fe5O12 and (EuBi)3Fe5O12), grown by LPE on (110) NdGG substrates, using Eu, which has a small magnetic loss. The B parameters of both films increased substantially with Bi substitution. Eu lead to a large crystalline anisotropy in (EuBi)3Fe5O12, which was found to be usable as a bubble material with bubbles of diameter approximately 0.5 ¿m, although the quality factor Q1 is small, at 1.3. On the other hand, the Q1 value of Eu3Fe5O12 was too small, at 0.37, to enable use as a bubble material.
