Abstract :
Issues concerning the ancillary PCN (personal communication network) markets, including the required data rate, coexistence, range and environment, FCC regulation, system complexity, and cost of implementation, are discussed. Considerations in establishing system goals, the battery operation and dynamic range of portable transmitters and receivers, and implementation approaches such as data modulation, direct sequence, and frequency hopping are also discussed.<>
