Abstract
The kinetics of the L10 ordering process in FePt nanoparticles is investigated by thoroughly analyzing the thermal annealing process in two types of gas-phase based preparation methods. It is shown that annealing times as short as a few milliseconds are sufficient to allow for the formation of the L10 order in these particles. It is deduced that the ordering kinetics is basically determined by the volume diffusion of Pt in FePt
