Abstract
A method was proposed for introducing hyperthermia to destroy or halt the growth of tumors by means of electro-magnetic induction, generating an eddy current which raises the temperature locally. Using a two-dimensional model, it was found that appropriate application of a uniform ac magnetic field, together with two local magnetic fields, enabled the formation of high eddy current densities (hot spots) in two-dimensional conductors. The same method may, in principle, be applied to three-dimensional conductors.
