Abstract :
Improvements in magnetizers that enable generation of a specified surface flux distribution in apparatus incorporating permanent magnets are described. The finite element method is used to design the shape of the magnetizer by tracing backward along the magnetization curve of the magnet. This process is outlined for a ferrite-based plastic magnet; the shape obtained was confirmed to yield the desired flux distribution.
