Abstract :
The contributions of SmCo5 and Sm2Col7 (1-5 and 2-17 type) on the magnetization process in ring magnets were investigated. In 8-pole magnetizing, the flux density versus magnetizing voltage characteristics for the two were nearly the same at lower voltages, but as the voltage was raised the 1-5 material characteristic was slightly better. In 60-pole magnetizing, however, as a strong field could not be generated because of the small pole pitch, the larger initial permeability of the 1-5 sample caused its flux density to rise higher at lower voltages than the 2-17 material.
