Abstract :
This paper presents a complete analysis for the derivation of the probability of error for a hypothetical pure frequency-hopping (FH) spread-spectrum communication system, employing a binary differential phase-shift-keyed (DPSK) modulation and differentially coherent demodulation, in a partial-band jamming environment. The postulated DPSK/FH spread-spectrum system could be a practical system if the operational environment is multipath free. The optimum partial-band and wide-band jamming performance measures are obtained and compared under certain parametric conditions on the communicator´s power levels. The present analysis is based on the application of the author´s recent results on the derivation of the probability density functions (PDF) for the output of a cross correlator with arbitrary bandpass inputs of different power levels.
