Abstract
All-optical clock-division from 10 to 5 GHz has been demonstrated based on period doubling in an injection-locked Fabry-Perot laser diode. The division process can be controlled by additional light injection through optical tuning of the laser relaxation oscillation frequency. A response time within tens of picoseconds has been obtained. By adjusting the DC bias, the clock-divider can also operate under different input frequencies from 8 to 11 GHz.
