Abstract
Ring-shaped domains, consisting of an inner and an outer domain wall, were studied as a means of achieving stable domains in Bloch line memories. Grooves were formed in a (YSmLuCa)3 (FeGe)5 O1 2 film on GGG substrate by ion milling, and various characteristics, such as the range of bias fields allowing domain stability for various plateau widths, were investigated. The proposed method was found to meet the conditions required for domain stability, and to enable conversion of VBL pairs into bubbles; as one drawback, however, this arrangement may make it difficult to achieve high track densities.
