Abstract :
The high-density magnetic recording characteristics of CoNi evaporated tapes with a monocrystalline ferrite narrow-gap head are investigated by comparison with recording using a sendust head. An output of close to 200 kFRPI for recording/reproduction by the ferrite head was found for one of the tape samples, closely approaching the value for sendust head recording. This suggests that improving the magnetic properties of tapes will make it possible to increase the output at high-density for the ferrite head at recording/reproduction.
