Abstract :
Structures of compositionally modulated Fe/Y films were studied by thermal analysis. The exothermic peak found in the DSC curve of (Fe 12 Ã…/Y 12 Ã…) most probably corresponds to crystallization of an amorphous material. SEM analysis suggested that the composition of crystallized (Fe 12 Ã…/Y 12 Ã…) was YFe2. It is concluded that a compositionally modulated (Fe 12 Ã…/Y 12 Ã…) is amorphous in structure as well as in magnetic properties.
