Abstract :
The structure, magnetic properties, polar Kerr rotation angle (¿k), and Mössbauer effect of Fe/Cu and Co/Cu system compositionally modulated multilayered films were studied. No satellite peak was found in the Fe/Cu film X-ray diffraction pattern, but a clear satellite peak was observed in that of the Co/Cu system multilayered film, revealing the difference between the structures of the Fe/Cu and Co/Cu multilayered films. A new ¿k peak was observed at ¿ = 560 nm in the multilayered films with thick composition modulation period. The appearance of the new ¿k peak at this wavelength suggests the possibility of a new electron transition, because no multiple reflection was observed in the neighborhood of 560 nm.
