Abstract
In telephone traffic theory O´Dell´s formula gives the traffic capacity of a group of lines with limited availability at a prescribed loss probability. In some cases an anomaly is observed: a decrease of traffic when the availability is increased. The practical significance of this anomaly is too small to preclude the use of O´Dell´s formula for this reason.
