Abstract
It was found that by adding MoO3 to the PbO-Bi2 O3 flux used in LPE growth of Bi-substituted garnet films, the growth rate can be reduced, facilitating control over the film growth process. The ratio of Mo to Pb in the melt was varied, and the effects on the growth rate Gr, the lattice mismatch ¿a¿, the anisotropy energy Ku , the saturation induction 4¿Ms , and the Curie temperature Tc , were observed. Changes in film properties can be compensated by small adjustments in the melt composition.
