Abstract :
The Kerr rotation angle (¿k) and sublattice magnetization (MTM) of GdFeCo film were studied. ¿k could be increased by adding Co to GdFe film to a concentration of approximately 30 percent. Above that point, ¿k began to decrease. ¿k was essentially proportional to MTM through Co concentrations of 50 percent, but above 30 percent, ¿k decreased more rapidly than MTM.
