  • Abstract
    The paper shows that the catastrophic behavior of TCM codes based on partially overlapped signal constellations significantly increases both the effective error coefficient and the decoding delay of such codes, resulting in a non negligible performance degradation with respect to the asymptotic coding gain.<>
