Abstract :
The grain structure of rapidly quenched 16% Al-Fe alloy ribbon after annealing under different vacuum pressures, and the resulting changes in magnetic properties were studied. When annealing is performed the grains grow rapidly to sizes anywhere from 150 to 400 times their previous size. At 10-1 torr it appears that some of the (110) planes are mixed up with the (100) planes, though the (110) planes increase again at 10-4 torr, and finally at 10-5 torr (100) planes appear over the entire surface.
