Abstract :
The iron loss characteristics of silicon steel were studied using the iron loss estimation method previously proposed by the authors. The rate of increase of the square wave iron loss with respect to the sine wave iron loss was only slightly greater than predicted. It was found that this iron loss estimation method provides adequate precision for widespread application to excitation due to square wave voltages, such as occur in inverter transformers.
