Abstract :
The galvanomagnetic effect of Co-metal (Ti, Zr, Nb, or Y) films is discussed. In the 30 ~ 50 at% range, the metal element always lost its ferromagnetic characteristics, and ¿Hs had a corresponding tendency to become zero. Rs/¿ and ¿ are proportional regardless of the metal element used, indicating that a quantum mechanical side jump mechanism causes this anomalous Hall effect. The ¿¿/¿ composition dependence, however, changes qualitatively with the type of metal used. When Ti, Zr, or Nb is increased, ¿¿/¿ displays an abrupt initial decrease, and reaches a minimum below zero. Both ¿¿/¿ and the magnetization become zero at approximately the same composition. There was no change of sign for Y.
