Abstract :
A highly sensitive AC-calorimeter which measures the specific heat changes of amorphous ribbons during heat treatment was devised. Using the results of these measurements, the structural relaxation and recrystallization processes of such ribbons were very closely examined. Using this method, the onset of structural relaxation, recrystallization and even magnetic phase transition was detected from large increases or peaks in the specific heat of the samples. Samples were also examined at different temperatures using X-ray diffraction to determine their structural properties.
