Abstract :
A method for the beneficiation of American coal powder without using a liquid dispersion medium was investigated. In this method the coal powder is fluidized in a high gradient magnetic field region. Processing American coal by this technique resulted in a performance level yield of 80 percent and ash reduction rate of 30 percent, which were rather good results. Also, no reduction in separation efficiency was observed when the processing space was drastically increased, so this process presents no serious obstacles to practical applications.
