Abstract :
During development of images in magnetography, the developing magnetic field interacts with the field formed by the latent magnetic image, affecting the resulting image resolution. When the developing field is oriented in the same direction as the image field, the tendency for adhering toner to ``bridge´´ the interval between neighboring magnetization transitions is strengthened, and vice-versa if the two fields are aligned in opposite directions. Hence if the developing field direction is not chosen appropriately, white areas in black-white images may be hard to distinguish, lowering the overall resolution.
