Abstract :
Read/write characteristics of a prototype narrow-track video head using sputtered Fe-Si-Al alloy thick film were studied. The I/O characteristics showed that recording capability is sufficiently high, and read-out output exceeded that of a ferrite head per unit coil turn and unit track width, demonstrating that both parameters of the prototype head are sufficient for practical applications. It was also found that playback demagnetization loss was less than 1 dB per 100 passes.
