Abstract :
Magnetoelastic wave propagation in amorphous wire was observed. The dependence of the attenuation constant on the magnetic field was determined by applying a dc field to the propagation path. Comparison with results obtained for amorphous ribbons showed that despite the measurement made at a higher frequency, the attenuation constant for the wire at high fields was lower, confirming that measurements can be made for wires at higher frequencies than for ribbons.
