Abstract :
A magneto-optic transfer readout head with garnet film with grooves formed at appropriate intervals in the surface to suppress displacement of linear domains that causes irregular variation in signal amplitude and noise level was studied. It was found that reducing the spot diameter for use on garnet film with domains of narrow width significantly improved the characteristics. This also greatly reduced the instability at readout, and C/N ¿ 50dB was obtained at 5MHz. It was also found that polarized noise is prominent over a wide range.
