Abstract
This paper presents a new model describing the mobility of vehicle-borne terminals under realistic urban traffic conditions. The model accounts for arbitrary urban street patterns and realistic terminal movements by a limited number of parameters that can be easily measured or derived from a city map. It introduces distribution functions of street length, direction changes at crossroads, and terminal velocity to find an analytical formulation. For validation, we show by simulation that the model yields cell sojourn time and remaining sojourn time distributions in agreement with previous results. Further independent validation by measurements and by a street pattern tracing software tool prove the model´s accuracy.
