Abstract :
A queueing system with unreliable time-varying wireless channel is studied. Three different schemes for dealing with the ongoing packet upon encountering the wireless link failure are proposed and analysed. The closed-form formula for the mean queue length and the average packet delay are developed with Poisson arrival process, general packet service time an Gilbert-Elliott channel model. The results show that both the queue length and the packet delay will be significantly underestimated when the wireless channel unreliability is not taken into account.
