Abstract
The author argues that the original paper ("The art of back-of-the envelope ray tracing", Rolland et. al, see ibid., vol.44, p.365-72, 2001) contains unnecessary, confusing, or incomplete information and they discuss the justifications for the criticisms given. The original authors\´ responses to these comments are also included in the paper.
