Abstract :
An E-band Raman amplifier in nonzero dispersion fibre is demonstrated. 1.4 μm water absorption does not hinder the amplifier itself but its characterisation due to water vapour in the external measurement instruments. The E-band could be used to extend the optical telecommunications bandwidth using nonzero dispersion fibre-based systems.
