Abstract :
Mechanism of injection locking with harmonic-frequency input pulses in a regeneratively mode-locked laser diode is investigated. We propose a model, in which the modulation sidebands generated near the free-running clock component causes mode locking, and the model is consistent with the behaviors of the measured timing jitter and optical modulation index. Mode locking of this laser with 320-GHz pulse injection is also realized.
