Abstract
The following experimental study describes a new representation of the behavior that a second-order phase-locked loop (PLL) shows in the presence of linear frequency sweeping. This paper differs from previously published results in that it presents a general experimental analysis of the PLL during a sweep which is independent of a specific in-lock detection. Hence, the results represent a useful tool for the design of an in-lock detector in PLL sweep systems.
