Abstract :
Over the last decade or so, there has been much discussion of and progress in computational science. The US High Performance Computing and Communications Initiative and the National Science Foundation (NSF) grand challenge programs largely focused on this trend. Now the NSF has a new cyber infrastructure report continuing the same emphasis on distributed systems. The author looks at the impact of these trends on computational science and its associated technology and research
