Abstract :
The main problem in basic block coded modulation (BCM) is the large path multiplicity, and therefore maximum likelihood decoding is not possible. Sayegh (1986) proposed a sub-optimal decoding method which decodes well only at high signal/noise ratios. The author proposes a two-stage decoding method which will improve error performance without too much circuit complexity
