Abstract
A method for the numerical representation of the nonlinear properties of amplifiers is developed. It is designed for use in computer models, and results in efficient and accurate computation of important properties of the output signal for a wide range of input signals. The single-carrier nonlinear transfer characteristic is split into two parts, one of which is chosen for analytical convenience and the other of which is approximated over a finite interval by a Fourier-Bessel expansion. Numerical values for a typical traveling wave tube are included in the paper; these values can be used as a basis for simulation programs for satellite communication systems.
