Abstract
Monte Carlo simulations of proton-induced spallation reactions show that the shape of the sensitive volume determines the variation of SEU cross section with angle of incidence. As the sensitive volume dimensions become smaller, the cross section variation becomes more pronounced. COSMIC simulation results are shown to be consistent with results from a simulation code by Levinson et al. (1994). The simulation results are somewhat consistent with experimental measurements on surface barrier detectors
