Abstract :
Conventional PLL´s (phase-locked loops) lack speed, because phase comparators cannot achieve time-continuous operation. Instead, a completely time-discrete scheme, using a special voltage-controlled oscillator and a digital controller, provides for response time of 2 cycles, but with overshoots of 100%. This paper proposes an in-between approach: it features finite impulse responses of 3 and 4 cycles with overshoots of 50% and 33%, respectively
