Abstract :
J.R. Carson´s (1926) electromagnetic coupling equations are approximated with sufficient accuracy for use in the calculation of induced harmonic voltages on communication systems adjacent to HVDC system DC and AC transmission lines. Using the simplified equations, techniques are outlined for rapid map analysis. A method of energized testing of HV transmission lines for harmonic current levels is presented in which the overhead ground wires are driven at harmonic frequencies for overall soil resistivity measurement
