Abstract
The services offered by INMARSAT are described. INMARSAT is the only organization providing satellite communications services worldwide to all modes of transportation by air, land, and sea. At the same time the wide range of its membership, comprising 64 countries (including both the United States and the Soviet Union) has meant that the technical standards adopted by INMARSAT are recognized internationally. The supporting infrastructure is described. The future of satellite communications is briefly examined.<>
