Abstract :
Ultrafast all-optical modulation in a silicon-on-insulator waveguide via simultaneous two-photon absorption of a CW signal from 1545-1570 nm and a 2 ps control pulse at 1530 nm is demonstrated. A modulation depth >7 dB and a response time <15 ps, limited by the detection bandwidth, is achieved.
