Abstract :
A combined electromagnetic and thermal diffusion model using transmission line modelling (TLM) is introduced. Empty and loaded microwave oven cavities are modelled in two dimensions and the standing wave patterns are obtained at 2.45 GHz. The power dissipated within the foodstuff is also computed and is used as the source to a thermal model. Temperature distributions within a foodstuff are then generated using these data.
