Abstract :
Manufacturers of TV sets for the US market require an economical high-performance captioning decoder which is easy to integrate into TV sets. A single-chip decoder is described which conforms to these requirements. The captioning decoder is a single-chip CMOS device known as LITOD, which will acquire, decode, and display line 21 captioning data from a 525 line composite video signal. LITOD was designed to be compatible with existing TV architectures. Some of the component parts of LITOD are described
