            Abstract : 
Optical pulses generated by an electroabsorption modulator are experimentally compressed in various negative-dispersion fibres. Theoretical and experimental pulsewidth evolutions are shown to be in excellent agreement when the voltage-dependent transmission and chirp functions are taken into account
