Abstract :
The performance characteristics of any filter may be entered onto a graph of the amount of resonant elements vs. either shape factor or the Q´s of the individual resonant elements. If curves of various design styles are also drawn on these graphs, one may compare how nearly a particular filter approaches the theoretically best performance for its style. Such curves are presented for typical filters (which do not include absorption traps). These curves may also be used to predict the amount and Q´s of resonant elements required to construct a filter to a given specification. Applications are shown in Part I by G. de W.
