Abstract :
Several programs planned by the military have required that the audio bandwidth of the radio circuit be much wider than that required for voice communication. In these applications, it is also necessary to maintain a much higher degree of continuity of communications and freedom from fading than had been necessary for the voice circuits. Each of these changes has indicated a need for much higher power for ground transmitters. To be useful for the new programs, these higher power transmitters must have wideband modulation capabilities. The particular form of modulation on these wideband signals is such that distortion must be held to a minimum. The anplifier which is described below was designed to fulfill these current requirements for the military UHF band.
