Abstract :
The implications on the dynamic response of a laser diode for two nonlinear gain models are studied theoretically. The nonperturbative model, recently introduced by Agrawal, see IEEE Photonics Technol. Lett., vol.1, p.419, 1989; leads to a quantitative difference with the previous commonly used two-level model in terms of both the intrinsic bandwidth and damping. The present work is compared with predictions made by Agrawal for the nonperturbative model
