Abstract :
The objectives of the Association of Edison Illuminating Companies (AEIC), an organization of investor-owned electric utilities and its cable engineering section (CES) are discussed. The goals of the latter are to address the issue of reliable underground cable systems for its member companies, primarily by developing cable specifications and guides for member utilities. The development process is described, the subjects covered are outlined, and sources of input from outside the CES are enumerated.<>
