Abstract :
For pt.I see ibid., vol.7, no.4, p.2012-22 (1992). To evaluate the validity of the different laboratory test procedures, test programs were initiated to study the thermal behavior of surge arresters under natural pollution conditions. Tests were carried out on various types of surge arresters, mainly at Martigues (France) and Lista (Norway). The results obtained from the field installations are presented in areas of marine and industrial pollution, and a comparison is made with earlier laboratory test results on the basis of varistor temperature rise and accumulated charge of external leakage currents
