Abstract :
We have designed a neutron source based on the 7Li(p,n)7 Bereaction. We bombard a thick metallic lithium target with protons from the Lowell type CN Van-de Graaff accelerator, and we obtain neutrons in the 5 keV to 3 MeV range with fluences up to 2Ã1014 neutrons/ (cm2h). We discuss source design and neutron dosimetry and we give examples of applications.
