Abstract :
A voluminized glass-fiber tape is treated in such a way to have fibers irregularly oriented out of the fabric plane. The use of voluminized tapes can help solving the problem of resin rich zones in the insulation of large superconducting magnets. In fact, the incoherent fibers partially fill the voids preventing crack propagation and, furthermore, make the cloth slightly softer than the normal one allowing the compensation of the conductor deformations.
